Kidney disease more likely in Indigenous women: report

Women who are Indigenous and live in remote areas are more likely to die from kidney disease, according to a report from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.

The latest report from the Institute of Health and Welfare about Chronic Kidney Disease and remoteness showed a disturbing pattern for Indigenous people, in particular women and those in remote areas.

In remote locations, Indigenous Australians are hospitalised at eight times the rate of other Australians.
