Killer's appeal dismissed

Mohammed Hoblos has lost an appeal against his conviction for the 2009 murder of Hilal Merhi at a 21st-birthday party in Sydney.

A man has lost an appeal against his conviction for a "gangland-style execution" of a guest shot five times at a packed 21st-birthday party in Sydney.

Mohammed Hoblos's appeal against his maximum 28-year sentence for the 2009 murder of 25-year-old Hilal Merhi was rejected by the Court of Criminal Appeal on Wednesday.

Hoblos was sentenced to a minimum of 21 years in May 2012.
