Kimberley Diamonds former boss charged

Kimberley Diamonds former chief executive Alexandre Alexander has been charged with misleading the stock market.

The former boss of Kimberley Diamonds, Alexandre Alexander, has been charged with misleading the stock market in relation to earnings forecasts for the mining company.

Mr Alexander appeared in Sydney's Central Local Court via video link on Wednesday charged with four offences relating to false and misleading statements made by Kimberley to the Australian Securities Exchange between October 2013 and March 2014.

Prosecutors allege Mr Alexander authorised Kimberley to issue earnings forecasts that failed to disclose assumptions the company would obtain a 30 per cent price increase for its rare yellow diamonds in final quarter of the 2014 financial year.

He was charged following an investigation by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
