Kimlin reinstated to Grenoble rugby club

Former Brumbies player Peter Kimlin will return to French club Grenoble after being part of rape allegation investigations this month.

Australian Peter Kimlin and five teammates stood down during police investigations into a rape allegation have been reinstated by their French rugby club Grenoble.

Ex-Brumbies forward Kimlin, with Ireland's Dennis Coulson and Chris Farrell, Frenchman Loick Jammes and New Zealand pair Rory Grice and Dylan Hayes, were interviewed by French police in Grenoble earlier this month.

No charges were laid and the club has reinstated the players while reserving the right to take further action if new information emerges.

The investigation reportedly stemmed from a 21-year-old woman's allegation that she was drugged and raped after meeting players at a Bordeaux nightclub on March 11.

Kimlin has indicated he is not at the centre of investigations and his involvement with police was to help establish a timeline of events, spending some hours in custody.

Jammes, Grice and Coulson were detained overnight on March 23.

Kimlin, 31, played two Tests for Australia, making his debut against Italy in 2009 as a starting flanker.

The Canberra product left the Brumbies for France at the end of the 2013 Super Rugby season.
