Kingman declared for Irish 2000 Guineas

Kingman will be out to avenge his defeat at Newmarket when he lines up in the Irish 2000 Guineas at The Curragh.

Kingman will face 13 opponents when he gets a second shot at Classic glory in the Irish 2000 Guineas at The Curragh.

John Gosden's exciting colt was favourite to secure his fourth win from as many starts in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket at the start of the month, but was narrowly beaten by the Richard Hannon-trained Night Of Thunder.

With his conqueror not making the trip to Ireland this weekend, Kingman is odds-on to take Saturday's Irish Guineas.

Despite Night Of Thunder's non-participation, the Hannon team still saddle a major contender in Shifting Power who was not beaten far into fourth at Newmarket.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained War Command, a disappointing ninth in the Newmarket Guineas, will be joined by stable companions Great White Eagle, Michaelmas, Johann Strauss and Fountain Of Youth.

The Clive Brittain-trained Rizeena has suffered a setback and will miss the Irish 1000 Guineas the following day.

Brittain said an hour after she worked on Thursday, there was some blood coming from one nostril.

"It was only a trickle, but if there is in any doubt, we always take them out," Brittain said.

"It could be something over nothing, but you can't take any risks.

"The filly is still bright-eyed and alert. I don't think we've a sick animal on our hands."

Rizeena won the Group One Moyglare Stud Stakes on her last visit to The Curragh but only finished seventh behind Miss France in the Newmarket Guineas.
