Cold temperatures, snow, rain and storms are forecast to hit parts of Australia.

The Bureau of Meteorology said the focus of rainfall and snow activity will be around Victoria, southern NSW, and eastern and southern Tasmania in what it is calling a "cold outbreak".

Snow could also develop on the southern and central tablelands, and possibly the northern tablelands. Ski resorts could receive an additional half a metre within a few days.

Monday is expected to bring another wave of rain to southern Victoria, while showers will continue in parts of South Australia and inland NSW.
Hazardous surf conditions are forecast to hit the NSW coast, particularly around the Illawarra and Hunter regions. Swell conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, boating, and swimming.

Larger waves are expected to start developing offshore on Sunday night, and will continue to become stronger on Monday night, with some offshore waves expected to reach four to five metres.
