Dustin Brown, who helped Los Angeles win their first Stanley Cup title in 2012, has signed an eight-year contract extension with the Kings.
Team captain Brown reportedly signed a deal worth $US47 million ($A51.45 million) which could keep him with the National Hockey League club until the 2021-22 season although, by then, Brown will be 36.
Brown has played his full nine-year NHL career with the Kings, who made him the 13th overall pick in the 2003 entry draft.
He was given the extension despite having a dismal playoffs this past season, in which the Kings were eliminated in five games in the Western Conference finals. In 18 post-season games, Brown had just three goals and one assist.
Brown's hit totals also diminished last year. He placed eighth in total hits during the regular season last year after finishing in the top three in the league in the previous six seasons.
In 46 regular-season games, the former 2009 all-star finished with 11 assists and 29 points.
