Kirk flies Aussie flag in LPGA event

Katherine Kirk of Australia is in the mix after the second round of the LPGA event in the US state of Arkansas.

Australia's Katherine Kirk is at five-under, two shots off the lead and tied for third after the first round of the LPGA Arkansas Championship.

Mexico's Gaby Lopez sits atop the leaderboard after making six birdies on the front nine and adding two more after the turn to sign for a career-low round of eight-under 63.

"The golf course is in great shape, it's so, so nice to play in nice weather, not as hot as last year, and the whole environment plays with me instead of against me," Lopez told the LPGA website.

"I've been working with my coach on some basic stuff, not getting away from fundamentals. When you're playing so much golf for four weeks in a row, you sometimes get off in little details, so just being aware of those little things that actually make a difference."

England's Charley Hull carded a round of 67, picking up five birdies and dropping a shot on the par-four fourth to finish four-under.

Shot of the day went to France's Perrine Delacour, who aced the par-three 17th hole at the Pinnacle Country Club.
