Kirwan set to be replaced as Blues coach

The Blues are tipped to announce that former All Blacks skipper Tana Umaga will replace coach Sir John Kirwan.

The Blues have scheduled a mid-morning announcement amid speculation Super Rugby coach Sir John Kirwan will be replaced by former All Blacks captain Tana Umaga.

Speculation is rife that Umaga is close to signing a deal with the Blues, who managed only three wins from 15 games this season in their third year under former All Blacks winger Kirwan.

Blues chief executive Michael Redman will make the announcement in Auckland at 10.30am local time (8.30am AEST).
