Kittens and dogs have been saved from a house fire north of Adelaide, believed to have been sparked by a microwave.

Kittens and dogs have been saved from a house fire near Adelaide.

No one was home when the blaze broke out in the kitchen of a home in Willaston, north of Adelaide, on Thursday night, the Metropolitan Fire Service says.

Two dogs and two "distressed" kittens were rescued, with the kittens receiving oxygen.

A faulty microwave is believed to have sparked the blaze.
