A New Zealander with a love of rugby has signed a free agent deal to play in the NFL.
Auckland-born Paul Lasike will join the Arizona Cardinals after missing out on a contract in last week's NFL draft.
The 24-year-old was picked up this week by the Cardinals after impressing as a running back in three years at Brigham Young University in Utah.
Lasike attended Church College of New Zealand near Hamilton and first took an interest in the NFL when on mormon missionary service in Alabama.
He excelled in both sports at BYU, helping their rugby team to three consecutive national championship titles.
In an interview last year, he said rugby was still his first-choice sport after growing up playing it.
However, his speed and yardage numbers prompted him to enter the NFL draft.
