Kiwis coaching job advertised

Candidates for the vacant Kiwis coaching job have until the end of January to apply.

The New Zealand Rugby League has given candidates for the vacant Kiwis coaching job 10 days to apply.

With Stephen Kearney's contract having ended after their loss to Australia at the World Cup final in November, the NZRL publicly advertised on Tuesday for applicants to fill the role for two years.

Applications close on January 31.

Kearney didn't rule out reapplying in the wake of his team's humbling 34-2 loss to the Kangaroos at Manchester, continuing a reign that began in 2008.

Others linked in media reports as interested in the role are former Kiwis internationals David Kidwell and Richie Blackmore.

The NZRL advertisement calls for candidates with top-level coaching experience.

"To be considered for this role you will need to be comfortable coaching as part of an elite coaching unit and have a proven track record.

"You will be an outstanding communicator with strong relationship management skills. A dynamic, respected and inspirational leader, you will have the drive and vision to make the Kiwis the best team in the world."

New Zealand's next Test is against Australia in May.
