Newcastle centre Dane Gagai has been discharged from hospital after suffering an irregular heartbeat during Saturday night's NRL win over Gold Coast at Hunter Stadium.
The 24-year-old was rushed to hospital at halftime of the 30-2 Knights' victory.
Queensland State of Origin representative Gagai went into the game with a virus and alerted medical staff that he was having issues during the first half before he was examined during the break.
Medical staff discovered the irregular heartbeat and he was taken to Newcastle hospital.
"Dane Gagai was discharged from hospital overnight after suffering an abnormal heart rhythm in Saturday's match," said the NRL club in a statement released on Sunday.
"Gagai's condition was stabilised. He will require further cardiologist assessment as a precaution."
Newcastle coach Rick Stone admitted after the game he had limited knowledge of exactly what Gagai's issue was.
"The physio came out and said Gags is not coming back on, he's not feeling well, he might have a bit of a virus and he's getting some dizzy spells out there," Stone said.
"Obviously our doctors have managed him, got him in an ambulance, and taken him up to hospital for some tests."
Beau Scott shifted to the centres and Knights went on with the job in the second half after leading 20-2 at halftime.
It was a gutsy performance from Newcastle who finished the game with 15 men after losing Gagai and hooker Tyler Randall, who suffered a concussion in the first half of the five-tries-to-none victory that lifted the Knights off the bottom of the ladder.
