Onlookers cheer on comedian Jose Ordonez (SBS)

He entertained audiences inside Bogota’s Salitre Plaza mall from 8am Friday until Monday morning, allowing himself a break of just five minutes an hour.

He also had an on-call doctor monitoring his health as he went two full nights without sleep.

Ordonez is no stranger to record attempts. He previously set the record of 24 hours of joke-telling in 1993.

Two years ago he beat his own best-effort, clocking in at 80 hours during an attempt in Madrid, Spain.

The light-hearted event had a serious side, raising money for Colombian children who have been affected by violence.
