Kookaburras beat India at Champions Trophy

The Kookaburras are set for the Champions Trophy hockey final in London after beating India 4-2.

The Australian men's hockey team have reached the Champions Trophy final in London after downing India 4-2.

After four chances at a penalty corner, the Kookaburras finally put their first point on the board with a fifth attempt, when Trent Mitton got the conversion.

Aran Zalewski extended the lead with a field goal minutes later, to put 2-0 in front going into halftime.

Another field goal - this time from Flynn Ogilvie - put them three goals ahead, before India's Raghunath Vokkaliga brought back some hope for his side with a penalty corner.

However, Australia answered immediately, Tristan White scoring off a deflection from Glenn Turner.

Mandeep Singh scored minutes into the final quarter of play, but India were unable to pull back for the win.

Kookaburras coach Graham Reid said he was happy with the first three quarters, but that the last quarter was disappointing.

"Part of the objective of this tour was to be able to string four quarters together, and we just struggled a bit with that today," he said.

"Tomorrow is the game now that we need to focus on."

The final kicks off at 8.15pm on Friday (5.15am on Saturday AEST), with Australia's opponent to be decided by the outcome of games between Korea and Germany, and Great Britain and Belgium.
