The Kookaburras have won their sixth consecutive game at the seven-nation Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia, a 3-0 shut-out of Canada.
Australia took ownership of the match immediately but weren't able to penetrate Team Canada's circle until the second quarter.
A Chris Ciriello stinger bounced off the pads of Canadian goalkeeper David Carter to give skipper Mark Knowles a penalty corner flick into the net after 16 minutes.
Blake Govers was then quick off the mark in the third quarter, giving Australia a much needed boost with another penalty corner to lift them to 2-0.
A Flynn Ogilvie field goal then took the score to 3-0 at the 36th-minute mark before the Australians missed three more scoring opportunities late in the match.
"We created a lot of opportunities, we just didn't manage to convert the penalty corners which was disappointing," coach Graham Reid said.
"Defensively we were pretty good, so were now looking at how we can approach the finals."
The result of India's game against Malaysia will determine whether Australia plays them or New Zealand in the finals on Saturday night.
