Kookaburras through to final in Antwerp

The Kookaburras have booked a place in the hockey World League final against hosts Belgium with a 3-1 win over Great Britain.

The Australian men's hockey team have scored a 3-1 win over Great Britain in the semi-finals of the World League in Antwerp.

The Kookaburras' victory sets up a clash with hosts Belgium in the final on Sunday (Monday AEST).

The Aussies went into the match knowing they had already qualified for next year's Olympics after India - who locked in their spot in Rio when they won the 2014 Asian Games title - progressed to the semis in Antwerp.

Blake Govers opened the scoring for the Kookaburras just before halftime before Nick Caitlin locked the game up in the third quarter.

Daniel Beale restored Australia's lead a couple of minutes later, sweeping into an empty goal before Jake Whetton sealed the victory when he turned in Jamie Dwyer's cross with 10 minutes remaining.

"I thought GB came out really hard and to our credit we absorbed the pressure really well," said Kookaburras coach Graham Reid.

"In that first 15 minutes they threw everything at us and we stopped most of it. There were probably a couple of lucky ones but that's alright, you need that."

World No.4 Belgium booked their spot in the decider with a 4-2 win over India.

Australia wore black armbands as a mark of respect for late Adelaide Crows AFL coach Phil Walsh.
