Melbourne's stuttering NRL attack has suffered a setback with the loss of leading tryscorer Marika Koroibete.

The athletic winger will be sidelined for up to six weeks after fracturing his thumb in the Storm's 24-2 loss to the Sydney Roosters on Monday night.

The Fijian suffered the injury in the 70th minute and scans this week have confirmed the damage.

Koroibete is the club's join leading tryscorer with centre Will Chambers, both crossing seven times.

He also ranks equal fourth in the NRL for total line breaks with eight and and is second overall for total metres.

The Storm have remained in Sydney for the week due to the short turnaround before they face Penrith at Pepper Stadium on Saturday night.
