Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O have staked their claim as the king and queen of Sydney FM breakfast radio after nudging out Jonesy and Amanda for the top spot.

KIIS1065 pair Sandilands and Jackie O were on an even footing with WSFM's Jonesy and Amanda in the last ratings but have since shot ahead.

Sandilands and Jackie O claimed the largest slice of the FM breakfast pie with 10.9 per cent of the audience share, up 1.6 per cent, while WSFM rivals lost ground, down 1.1 per cent to 8.2 per cent.

Their performance helped boost KIIS1065's overall ratings 1.3 per cent to 10.1 per cent, the largest FM radio audience share overall.

Meanwhile 2DAY FM, Sandilands and Jackie O's former home, continues its downward slide, dropping a further 0.1 per cent after plummeting 4.4 per cent in the last ratings survey.

WSFM this week joined forces with Melbourne's Brig and Lehmo at GOLD Melbourne to become the Classic Hits Pure Gold Network.

Both WSFM and GOLD have been playing more songs from the 1990s and 2000s from artists like Robbie Williams and U2 in a bid to appeal to Generation X.

2GB's Alan Jones maintains the overall breakfast radio crown with 15.5 per cent audience share, up 0.3 per cent from last month.
