Kylie Minogue feels lucky to still be here

It is almost nine years since Kylie Minogue was diagnosed with breast cancer but the pop star admits she still feels lucky to have survived.

Kylie Minogue has admitted she feels lucky to still be here after her cancer scare almost nine years ago.

The 45-year-old pop star was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2005 and has since made a full recovery.

"Mostly I am just getting on with stuff," she said in a Nine Network interview.

"But, there's definitely times when I think I'm just lucky to be here."

Minogue had surgery in her home town of Melbourne following her diagnosis and stepped out of the spotlight for more than a year to recover.

She won high praise for repeatedly speaking publicly about her cancer diagnosis and treatment, even being credited for encouraging young women to have regular checks.

These days she says she is as busy as ever.

"I'm as busy as I was 20 years ago, I haven't stopped," she said.

She is in Australia as part of her mentoring role on the hit show, The Voice, and has just released her 12th studio album Kiss Me Once.
