Tennis wild child Nick Kyrgios has been slugged with a $6200 fine for an audible obscenity during his French Open thrashing at the hands of Richard Gasquet.
The 6-2 7-6 (9-7) 6-2 loss, in which Kyrgios felt he was "absolutely destroyed" by the ninth seed, confirmed a third-round exit and a payday of 102,000 euros ($A158,000).
It's the second time Kyrgios, who has career earnings of $US2,592,076 ($A3.59 million), found himself in the crosshairs of tournament officials this week, having been dealt a code violation by respected chair umpire Carlos Ramos for yelling for a towel from a ball boy during the first round.
That incident prompted a furious response from Kyrgios, who accused the umpire of "unbelievable bias" and described his decision as "f**king bulls**t".
Kyrgios escaped any financial punishment for that eruption but wasn't as fortunate on Saturday when officials gathered to review Friday's matches.

While the offending comments were not released by tournament officials, Kyrgios is well known for muttering and swearing at himself during matches - actions that are generally overlooked when fines are handed out.
Kyrgios, who battled a shoulder injury on Friday, became agitated following the tense second-set tiebreaker loss and looked up at his support box, where brother Christos was sitting, and repeatedly said, "Get out of my box, get out of my box."
Kyrgios is no stranger to being fined over his on-court behaviour.
In 2015, he was fined $US9,500 for unsportsmanlike conduct at Wimbledon, and was given a suspended six-month ban and fined $US10,000 for his "insulting remark" directed at world No.3 Stan Wawrinka at the Montreal Open.
