Nick Kyrgios's US Open rollercoaster ride has continued with tournament-high fines and a lively first-round doubles win with fellow Australian Matt Reid.
Kyrgios has been slugged with fines totalling $US5500 (A$6930) for separate outbursts during his four-set first-round loss to countryman John Millman.
The combustible youngster was hit with a $US3000 for an audible obscenity and another $US2500 for obliterating his racquet.
Kyrgios, who is battling a worrying shoulder injury ahead of Australia's Davis Cup semi-final in Belgium this month, also claimed after losing to Millman that he had "no dedication to the game at all".
But the tennis enigma is still committed to leading Australia's Cup assault and his spirited doubles win with Reid from a set down would have heartened team captain Lleyton Hewitt.
The world No.17 twice sought treatment for his shoulder during the 3-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 comeback win over Joao Sousa and Jan-Lennard Struff.
But he showed no signs of discomfort as he sprinted to the changeover in excitement after clinching the decisive break late in the deciding set and then closed out of the match after one hour and 58 minutes.
