Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has come under heavy criticism after telling fellow player Stan Wawrinka that Australian player Thanasi Kokkinakis slept with his girlfriend.

Kyrgios made the comment after he lost the first set in a match at the Montreal Masters on Thursday.

He can be heard on video telling Wawrinka, "Kokkinakis banged your girlfriend, sorry to tell you that mate."

When Kyrgios was asked about the remark in an interview after the match he said Wawrinka had been "getting a bit lippy with me."

"Kind of in the heat of the moment," he said. "I don't know, I just said it."

Kyrgios won the match but he may have lost fans over the sledge, with many criticising him on social media.
But some defended the tennis star.
