Labor accuses LNP of caretaker breach

Labor says the Newman government has been preparing the state's assets for sale by scrapping the Local Industry Policy after the election was called.

Labor has accused the Newman government of getting state assets ready for sale by breaching long-standing caretaker conventions.

The Liberal National government, which released its election costings on Tuesday, is seeking a mandate from Queenslanders to lease about $37 billion worth of state assets to fund infrastructure and pay down debt.

But Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk, who has vehemently campaigned against privatisation, says the government scrapped the state's Local Industry Policy three days after the election was called on January 6.

Under the policy, government-owned businesses were required to report annually on their efforts to attract locals for major projects, procurement and tenders.

"They've stripped it away in the cover of night without Queenslanders knowing," Ms Palaszczuk said.

"They are stripping these assets getting them ready for sale and they've been doing this whilst the election was called in breach of caretaker conventions."
