Labor supports Prime Minister Tony Abbott's call urging as many people as possible to attend Anzac Day events in the wake of a foiled alleged Melbourne terror plot.

Labor frontbencher Brendan O'Connor said it is important that there is a large attendance at all of the commemorations around the country.

"I certainly will be laying a wreath on behalf of the Commonwealth and I will be there with my family at the dawn service at my own electorate," Mr O'Connor told Sky News.
