Labor labels Dr Karl ads an absurd waste

The federal government is under fire from Labor over an $11 million ad campaign for the intergenerational report.

Federal Labor has labelled as an "absurd waste of money" the $11 million spent on a controversial government advertising campaign starring science broadcaster Karl Kruszelnicki.

The intergenerational report "challenge for change" campaign is due to finish at the end of this week.

"Why is taxpayers' money being wasted on an ad campaign when even the star of the show says it should end?" opposition junior treasury spokesman Andrew Leigh said on Friday.
