Federal Labor is yet to be convinced about repealing a section of media laws, warning the same voices are already delivering the news on different platforms.
The opposition supports abolishing the so-called reach rule which prohibits a company from controlling commercial TV licences which reach more than 75 per cent of the population, but has reservations about the two-out-of-three rule, which prevents a proprietor from controlling more than two of three radio, TV and newspapers in an area.
"Of the top ten news sites, seven of them are still owned by traditional media companies. We have the same voices being delivered on different platforms," the party's communications spokeswoman Michelle Rowland told Sky News ahead of a Senate hearing into the proposed changes.
