Labor steps up Braddon by-election gifts

Deputy Labor leader Tanya Plibersek has hit the hustings ahead of the Braddon by-election in July with opposition candidate Justine Keay.

Labor has stepped up its pitch to voters in the Tasmanian federal electorate of Braddon ahead of a crucial by-election at the end of July.

Deputy Labor leader Tanya Plibersek appeared with the opposition's candidate Justine Keay in Devonport on Saturday to pledge $1 million towards a major upgrade for Meercroft Park.

"How exciting would it be if a future star of the Socceroos or the Matildas could say they got their start at Meercroft Park?" Mrs Plibersek said on Saturday.
