Labor united behind Shorten: Plibersek

There've been no discussions in the Labor caucus about a leadership change, according to Tanya Plibersek who came up as preferred leader in a recent poll.

Tanya Plibersek has shrugged off a poll suggesting she's favoured to lead the federal Labor party over Bill Shorten.

The deputy opposition leader topped the Reachtel preferred leader poll ahead of fellow Sydney MP Anthony Albanese at number two, and Mr Shorten at number three.

"What's important is that we are united, we are disciplined and we are focused on the lives of ordinary Australians," Ms Plibersek told reporters in Hobart on Wednesday. She said there had been no caucus discussions about the leadership.
