Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce believes Labor has picked a fight with farmers with its plans to regulate broad-scale land clearing.
Mr Joyce says the climate policy, which the opposition is taking to the election, will result in federal police on the private land of mums and dads who'll be infuriated by such legislative overreach.
"That is an anathema to so many people on the land. This ... really riles people," he told reporters in Canberra on Wednesday.
