Lambie demands for building cop vote

Independent senator Jacqui Lambie has written to the prime minister outlining her demands in return for her vote to set up a construction industry cop.

Independent senator Jacqui Lambie has demanded the government deregister the construction union and show her a secret unions' royal commission report in return for her vote to establish a building industry watchdog.

The Senate is debating a government bill to re-establish the Australian Building and Construction Commission, which could impose penalties for industrial action and stop coercion.

The coalition has been lobbying crossbench senators to support the bill, with Senator Lambie on Monday indicating her support is contingent on deregistration of the CFMEU and seeing the confidential interim report of the royal commission into trade union corruption.
