Lambie, Xenophon to visit SA shipbuilder

Independent senator Nick Xenophon has invited Jacqui Lambie to visit Adelaide, using the tour to convince the outspoken senator to block a government bill.

Jacqui Lambie will lend her support to shipbuilder ASC during a tour of Adelaide on Friday.

The outspoken senator has been invited to see firsthand the South Australian shipbuilder's operations by SA independent senator Nick Xenophon.

Senator Lambie has been a vocal supporter of the ASC, once suggesting former defence minister David Johnston was "dangerously stupid" over comments he would not trust it to build a canoe.

The senators will also visit a social welfare provider, greet independent MLC John Darley and tour a car components maker's operations.

Senator Xenophon is using the visit to convince Senator Lambie to block a government bill that winds back assistance to the motor industry.
