Jacqui Lambie has won the tick of approval from the electoral commission to set up her own political party.

The Jacqui Lambie Network can now appear on federal election ballot papers and receive public funding if its candidates garner enough votes.

Senator Lambie was elected under the Palmer United Party banner but defected in November.
