Another milestone has been reached in the development of the Western Sydney Airport with the release of a tender for land surveys of the airport site.

The request for tender was released by WSA Co, the company established by the Turnbull government to build and operate the $5.3 billion airport.

This work includes surveying of site boundaries, topography and utilities on site, as well as geometrically-corrected aerial photography.

"Western Sydney Airport will be a game-changer for western Sydney, attracting businesses and generating tens of thousands of jobs," Urban Infrastructure Minister Paul Fletcher said on Tuesday.

Earthworks will start next year with the airport due to open in 2026.
