Stephen Larkham admits a desire to become the next Wallabies coach - but just not at the moment.
Larkham's grooming as a future Wallabies coach took another major step on Friday after making the decision to accept a full-time role with the national side.
He will remain Brumbies head coach for the next Super Rugby season before solely focusing on his role with the Wallabies until the World Cup in 2019.
He said the biggest factor of his decision was the ability to remain at home in Canberra with his family throughout the entire three-year campaign.
But the second was being part of the Wallabies' journey to Japan.
"The playing group has changed over the last 12 months but it's been very exciting to be a part of that change," Larkham said on Friday.
"I'm certainly looking forward to the future. There's a lot of talent in Australia, particularly at the top level. The ability to be at home through the World Cup campaign is a big one.
"Family is very important to me. The quality of time that I have with the family will be better than what I've got at the moment."
The 42-year-old, who's been at the helm of the ACT-based franchise for the past two seasons, has been with the Australian side part-time as an attack coach.
He has taken the Brumbies to the Super Rugby finals in both his years as head coach, losing in the quarter-finals this year after a semi-final finish in 2015.
But he has bigger ambitions.
"Everyone wants to aspire to be the best in their position. Head coach of the Wallabies, top role in Australia ... that's a long way down the track," he said.
"I haven't really thought about it too much (but), as a coach, there's certainly aspirations to get to the top."
