A police negotiator stood outside Sydney's Lindt Cafe for more than three hours with a special device to broadcast a message to the gunman inside but she never used it.

 

SBS reporter Alyshia Gates says the negotiator told the Sydney siege inquest she'd never used the acoustic instrument before which is known as a Long Range Acoustic Device.
