A Canadian man has taken a dangerous risk, attempting to get a selfie at the bottom of a volcano in Vanuatu.
George Kourounis, host of the "Angry Planet" TV series, along with fellow explorer Sam Cossman journeyed down to the bottom of a crater in the Ambrym volcano.
The pair repelled down almost 365 metres, which is close to the height of the Empire State Building in New York, and stood about 50 metres from the roiling lava lake in the Marum Carater
Despite wearing a fire proof suit, Kourounis could only be there for a few minutes. He said he was so close to the lava lake, his jacket melted.
"You cannot get any physically closer to this lava without swimming in it," he said.
"Parts of it actually splashed me and melted my jacket."
Kourounis' isn't the first daredevil to take dangerous selfies.
In August, a photographer made headlines after a stomach-turning selfie on top of one of Hong Kong's tallest buildings went viral.
