Wests Tigers utility Chris Lawrence's NRL season could be over because of an ankle injury.

Lawrence came from the field early in the side's 33-8 loss to the Sydney Roosters on Friday and has been diagnosed with a low-grade high ankle sprain.

Tigers physiotherapist Peter Moussa said Lawrence was expected to miss four to six weeks.

The Tigers are last and face Melbourne on Friday night at Leichhardt Oval.
