Lay day called at Bells Beach

The World Surf League event at Bells Beach has been delayed with a lay day called for Wednesday.

Tyler Wright and fellow Australian Stephanie Gilmore will have to wait another day for their show-stopping Rip Curl Pro quarter-final at Bells Beach.

Organisers called a lay day on Wednesday morning due to messy conditions.

"The weather outside is terrible and there's a really strong onshore wind," said WSL Deputy Commissioner Jessi Miley-Dyer.

"There are some better conditions on the way so we are off for the day."

When competition resumes, Brazilians Adriano de Souza and Gabriel Medina will also go head to head in the men's quarter-finals.
