Lay day called at Margaret River Pro

A lay day has been called at the Margaret River Pro in Western Australia due to a drop in swell.

Despite three-four foot waves on offer at Main Break on Monday, World Surf League announced the surf forecast looked better from Wednesday onwards when it's hoped the men can resume at the semi-finals stage and the women at the quarter-final stage.

"It's looking a bit like the tap's been turned off today and the surf has dropped," said WSL Deputy Commissioner Jessi Miley-Dyer.

"The forecast is still looking good and we're looking at Wednesday, Thursday and Friday having another significant swell.

"I think we're going to get great waves and we're going to wait for them."

MEN'S SEMI-FINALS TO BE CONTESTED:

Semi-final 1: John John Florence (HAW) vs. Nat Young (USA)

Semi-final 2: Taj Burrow (AUS) vs. Adriano de Souza (BRA)

WOMEN'S QUARTER-FINALS TO BE CONTESTED:

Quarter-final 1: Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS) vs. Lakey Peterson (USA)

Quarter-final 2: Carissa Moore (HAW) vs. Tatiana Weston-Webb (HAW)

Quarter-final 3: Malia Manuel (HAW) vs. Bianca Buitendag (STH AFRICA)

Quarter-final 4: Tyler Wright (AUS) vs. Courtney Conlogue (USA)
