The correspondence reportedly reveals Mr McTernan to be an aggressive communicator who frequently used expletives when dealing with junior staff.
The British national, who joined Ms Gillard’s media team as chief spin doctor in 2011, described journalists, critics and a member of Barack Obama’s team using obscene language, the ABC reports.
When an email went out about keeping cleanly workstations and one Labor staffer suggested Mr McTernan’s needed a tidy, he sent a reply-all message saying: "C***, you will be c**ted too".
The emails showed he also encouraged staff to rally “Twitter armies” to poke fun at the opposition.
