Lee and Oh in steady LPGA Q-school starts

Rising Australian stars Minjee Lee and Su Oh have shot even-par 72s in the first round of the US LPGA Tour qualifying school

Teenage Australian rookies Minjee Lee and Su Oh have made steady starts at the US LPGA Tour qualifying school in Florida.

They shot even-par rounds of 72 at LPGA International to be tied 46th in the 154-player field after the first of five rounds.

The two 18-year-olds both turned pro in the past three months after steering Australia to the women's world amateur teams title and now have their sights set on LPGA Tour careers.

Julia Boland heads the nine-strong Australian challenge after a 71, which left her five shots behind American leader Casey Grice.

Breanna Elliott and Maggie Yuan are tied with Lee and Oh while Rebecca Artis shot 73, Stacey Keating had a 75 and Jayde Panos and Emma DeGroot shot 76s.

The field will be cut to 70 after four rounds and the top 20 after Sunday's final round will earn full tour cards while the next 25 get partial tour status.
