South Korea's Meena Lee fired a 10 birdies in a seven-under par 64 second round Friday to grab a share of the lead at the $US1.3 ($A1.41) million LPGA North Texas Shootout.

Lee and Germany's Caroline Masson, who fired her second consecutive 67, topped the leaderboard on eight-under 134 after 36 holes at Las Colinas Country Club.

Americans Stacy Lewis and Natalie Gulbis shared third on 135 with compatriot Christina Kim another stroke adrift.

Norway's Suzann Pettersen, Paraguay's Julieta Granada, Dutchwoman Dewi Claire Schreefel and Americans Dori Carter and Cristie Kerr were next on 137.

Lee opened on the back nine with an eagle at the par-5 10th. After a bogey at 11, she fired back-to-back birdies before another befell her at 14.

She followed that with three birdies in a row before taking a bogey at 18, completing nine holes in four-under 31 without a single par.

Lee played her second nine without a bogey but ran off another birdie streak at the par-5 third, par-3 fourth and par-4 fifth, then parred the last four holes to claim her share of the lead.

Masson had less of a roller coaster round, with back-to-back birdies at the second and third and to open the back nine. She made her lone bogey at the eighth and closed with a birdie at the par-5 18th.
