Ex-Test quick Ryan Harris believes Australia's latest generational change will be fast tracked under affable coach Darren Lehmann.
And Harris claims there will not be much difference between the captaincy of ex-skipper Michael Clarke and his successor Steve Smith.
A new-look Australia will line up against New Zealand in the first Test in Brisbane from November 5 in the wake of international retirements to Harris, Clarke, Chris Rogers, Brad Haddin and Shane Watson.
Ex-Test batsman Mike Hussey said experience told him it could take years to rebuild team culture under new captain Smith.
However, Harris believed Lehmann would ensure a smooth and seamless transition.
"It will take a little while to get a good culture, but the coaching staff set that culture and the guys go with it," Harris told AAP.
"I definitely don't think it will take years.
"The coaching staff drive that and Boof (Lehmann) does a good job at that - there shouldn't be a problem."
Harris said Smith had impressed him in the team environment before the fast bowler finally succumbed to a knee injury and retired ahead of this year's Ashes series.
He believed Smith would pick up where Clarke left off with the Australian captaincy.
"It is up to the individual to embrace it and keep that culture going and the way Steve encouraged the culture when I was with him was fantastic," Harris said.
"It was not much different to when Michael captained."
