Leishman keen to play at 2020 Olympics

Golfer Adam Scott says his position hasn't changed on competing in the Olympics but Marc Leishman has thrown his name in the mix for the 2020 Games in Tokyo.

Marc Leishman says he would "love" to play golf at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo but fellow Aussie Adam Scott is unlikely to put his hand up.

Both players made themselves unavailable for Rio 2016 but for different reasons, with Scott strongly opposed to the Olympic golf format, while Leishman didn't want to put his wife Audrey at risk of contracting the Zika virus.

But Leishman told reporters on Wednesday he would jump at the chance to go to the Olympics if selected to represent Australia.

It comes after Jason Day, who also skipped Rio due to health concerns, threw his name in the mix last week.

"I'd love to play the Olympics. No doubt, if I'm in the team I'm going," Leishman said on Wednesday, before the Australian PGA Championship on the Gold Coast.

"(I've got) goosebumps there right now (talking about it).

"It would be cool. Anytime you represent your country it's great.

"It's just I've always been one to put family first and at the time, I can't remember if Audrey was pregnant or if we were trying, so it was just not in the best interests of our family to put her health or our baby's health at risk.

"I'd love to go to Tokyo in three years' time to represent Australia."

However, Scott is almost certain to sit it out again.

The world No.31's views on Olympic golf are on record and he said last year he had no interest in playing another 72-hole tournament with a "weaker-than-most" field.

"I really haven't thought that far ahead," Scott said.

"As far as my thoughts on golf in the Olympics, my views haven't really changed at all."
