Leuluai out for rest of NRL season

Hooker Thomas Leuluai will need season-ending surgery for a knee injury suffered in the Warriors' NRL win over Parramatta.

Warriors hooker Thomas Leuluai is out for the rest of the NRL season after scans confirmed the extent of the knee injury he suffered in the win over Parramatta.

Leuluai, who will need surgery, was helped off the field 23 minutes into the 17-13 golden-point victory in Sydney after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

He is the third Warrior to have his season ended by an ACL injury, after Ben Henry and Ngani Laumape, who have each undergone knee reconstructions.

Leuluai's departure from the field left the Warriors with just a two-man bench, after backrower Ryan Hoffman went off in the third minute with a head knock.

Hoffman, NSW's joint player of the series in last year's State of Origin victory, is following concussion protocols.

The Warriors have a bye this week.

Winger Manu Vatuvei, who sat out the Eels match with a sternum complaint, and fullback Sam Tomkins, who has missed the last seven rounds with a knee problem, are both expected to be available for the club's next fixture against Newcastle on May 31.
