Alexander Levy has clinched victory at the European Open in Bavaria, Germany, by seeing off Ross Fisher on the second playoff hole.

Levy, 26, became the youngest Frenchman in history to claim three European Tour titles by sinking a 30-foot putt on the 18th at the second time of asking after both players had made par on the hole the first time round.

Thick morning fog on each of the first three days at Golf Resort Bad Griesbach had forced officials to cut the tournament to 54 holes, but there were no problems on the final day.

Levy had held a four-stroke lead heading into the final round, but Fisher closed the gap by carding seven birdies to finish the week with just one bogey and a 19-under total.

Levy fired four birdies in six holes from the 10th, but two bogeys in his final three holes ensured a play-off before he regathered himself to sink his superb winning putt.

Fisher, chasing his sixth European Tour title, has now lost a playoff for the fifth time in his career.

Michael Jonzon and Robert Karlsson finished joint third after respective rounds of 68 and 65 moved the Swedish duo to 16-under-par.

Austrian Bernd Wiesberger finished fifth on 15-under and Germany's Martin Kaymer was five shots off the winner in sixth place after a final round of 68 to finish on 14-under.
