Robert Lewandowski scored a hat-trick as Bayern Munich marched on towards another Bundesliga title with a 6-0 demolition of lowly Augsburg on Saturday while Borussia Dortmund were held 1-1 by Schalke.
Lewandowski was on target in the 17th, 55th and 79th minutes - and set up two more as Thomas Mueller got a brace and Thiago Alcantara also found the net - taking his tally to 16 goals in 12 matches against Augsburg, and to 24 goals for the season.
He drew level at the top of the scorers' table top with Pierre Emerick Aubameyang who opened the scoring for Dortmund at their bitter local rivals Schalke who salvaged a point from youngster Thilo Kehrer.
Bayern command the standings with 65 points ahead of RB Leipzig who have 52 after returning to winning ways 4-0 over 10-man bottom club Darmstadt. Hoffenheim, 3-1 winners at Hertha Berlin on Friday, have 48 points and Dortmund 47.
Werder Bremen continued their revival with an impressive 5-2 at mid-table Freiburg, and fellow-strugglers SV Hamburg got a stoppage-time 2-1 victory over Cologne from Lewis Holtby's drive.
