LG has taken its first steps in wearable fitness gadgetry, unveiling headphones that double as heart rate monitors and a fitness-tracking wristband.
The gadgets were presented at a press conference ahead of the official start on Tuesday of the International Consumer Electronics Show is Las Vegas.
Both can communicate with one another wirelessly, and can also send information to Apple and Android phones.
They are compatible with the LG Fitness app plus a number of third-party apps such as MyFitnessPal and Runkeeper.
Unlike popular fitness fitbands such as the Fitbit and the Jawbone, the Lifeband Touch wristband contains a touchscreen panel, allowing users to swipe through information during a run.
It measures distance, speed, number of steps and calories consumed and contains call and text notifications.
The Heart Rate Earphones measure blood flow signals from the inner ear.
LG claims it captures accurate data on beats per minute and maximal oxygen uptake. The information can then be played to a user during a run.
The devices will be launched in the US in the first half of 2014 but LG has made no announcement on an Australian launch.
