Political correctness in the Australian Defence Force is driving members out, a Liberal MP says.

Former special forces soldier turned MP Andrew Hastie said he is concerned a "political correctness agenda" in the force is making it harder to serve in the ADF.

"My concern is that it's so affecting morale that our future leaders are getting out at the same age that I did," Mr Hastie told Miranda Devine Live on Monday..

"There's a lot of good people who I know that are considering getting out or have gotten out because they've just had a gutful of the agenda."

Mr Hastie said the ADF had been treated like a "test tube" by social engineers for the past five or so years and that initiatives that reflect as much would be hard to wind back.

"Once you infect the hierarchy with a lot of this stuff, it very quickly permeates throughout the whole institution, so unwinding that is very, very difficult," he said.

"It requires leadership, frankly."
